Am I imagining this for my own enjoyment, or is this real? A remote village on Alaska's northwest coast has begun a reverse tourism campaign. The Greek saint contemplates; the Western saint acts. And this brings us back to the notion of ecology as the new opium for the masses; the underlying message is again a deeply conservative one - any change can only be the change for the worst - here is a nice quote from the TIME magazine on this topic: Behind much of the resistance to the notion of synthetic life is the intuition that nature (or God) created the best of possible worlds.

These crops provided a shorter food chain than grass and buffalo, so the farmers were able to capture a larger percentage of the Great Plains biological production than the Native Americans had obtained from buffalo. Express desire and availability: unmated mocking birds sing all the time. To make such a separation not only leads to selfishness towards other people, but also induces human selfishness towards nature. So, if you are learning about what kinds of relationships fish have with other animals (including us!) and plants in their neighborhood, then you are learning about ecology.
